Canis Minor

by Dan Mitrut

They didn't have other lighthouses
and guardians in that side of the sky.

Procyon, put in a reservation
before its time,
sniffed those foreign places
that removed the crazy hunt.

Only a thought was soothing:
without its help,
the greater dog and the master Orion
will never kill the bull.
